Photogize
Data Center Managed Superstructure
The Photogize Data Center is managed in the Intensive Hosting Division of
Rackspace. Intensive Hosting supports customers with complex hosting needs
for advanced websites, mission-critical operations, and applications running
on Microsoft technology.
World-Class Data Center
The Photogize Data Center employs a high speed SCSI RAID 5 disk array system
for photo storage. When available storage on the RAID array goes below
a pre-set limit, the Data Center automatically accesses additional storage.
A high-speed storage option onsite is an EMC 25 TB optical fiber SAN. The
Photogize Data Center/Intensive Hosting is engineered to avoid any single
point of failure in connectivity, power, or Heating, Ventilation, and Air
Conditioning (HVAC). Access to the data center is restricted to highly
trained Level III technicians. Rackspace employs biometric hand scanners
and passcards to restrict data center access. The Photogize Data Center
uses only enterprise-class components from Microsoft, Dell, Cisco, EMC,
and Legato Systems. Each component is actively managed by Graphx and Intensive
Hosting.
Network
The Photogize Data Center offers a symmetric upload and download data transfer
capacity, burstable to 100 Mbps. The Photogize Data Center has direct access
to the Intensive Hosting 2.5 Gbps backbone, for additional peak demand
capacity, e.g. during the winter holiday season. Intensive Hosting utilizes
connections to multiple backbone providers to ensure data reaches end-users
in an expedient and efficient manner. Intensive Hosting network engineers
are constantly augmenting network connectivity and establishing new routes
to increase network performance.
Sophisticated Routing and Extra Capacity for
Speed
The Photogize Data Center is an entirely switched Cisco Powered Network™,
employing Cisco GSR 12000 class routers running HSRP (N+1 hot failover) and
Border Gateway Protocol (BGP4) for best-case routing, even in the event of
a router failure. The redundant network architecture enables packets to be
sent via alternate routes, even when delivered to the same end-user.
Uninterruptible Power
The Photogize Data Center/Intensive Hosting power systems are designed to run
continually in the event of a total power outage. All servers are connected
to a conditioned Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system that comes online
if the local utility power fails. The UPS power subsystem is N+1 redundant
with instantaneous failover in the event the primary UPS fails. In the event
of a longer power outage, an onsite diesel generator can supply power for
an extended period. The generator is regularly tested to ensure it proper
functioning in an emergency.
HVAC and Fire Suppression
The HVAC systems are N+1 redundant, which ensures the availability of a duplicate
system, available on standby, in the event of an entire HVAC system failure.
All air is circulated and filtered every 90 seconds to remove dust and contaminants.
Additionally, advanced fire suppression and detection systems, will contain
and prevent the spread of fire.
Server Deployment and Management
The exclusive focus on the Dell and Microsoft platforms has enabled Intensive
Hosting to deliver the most advanced and reliable server foundation in the
industry. Intensive Hosting engineers selected the Dell platform based on
product stability, state-of-the-art management tools, and future product
roadmap. The Intensive Hosting custom installation was built with security
and reliability in mind, with new systems deployed only after extensive component
and software testing is complete.
Photogize Data Center Security
The Photogize Data Center is a highly secure facility, with access to server
areas limited to Level III Rackspace technicians. The Photogize server stack
is protected by a Cisco 515 firewall, with Rackspace personnel constantly
monitoring traffic for Denial of Service (DOS) and other attacks. Real-time
virus scanning is also performed on all incoming data files.
A Standards-based Platform
WebServices was built with
tightly-integrated, market-leading technologies. Java, COM, XML, and SQL
components seemlessly combine to provide optimal
QOS.
Multiple Channels
The Basic Print Order Channel is included with the Photogize Starter
System. You can add other Photogize Channels at any time in order to offer
differentiated
and customized products and services to a a number of different markets.
Photogize Lab centrally manages all your Channels on WebServices. For example, you could have a Basic Print Order Channel for consumers, a Basic Print Order Channel for professionals, and a Greeting Card Channel for consumers.
Third party developers are busy creating exciting new Channels for the consumer and professional markets.
Overview
Photogize WebServices is a collection of web-based services that provide
user authentication and authorization; photo uploads, downloads and storage;
secure order transactions; and photo email.
WebServices is the engine behind Photogize Channels - the user interfaces for WebServices.
